About

Bioorganic and medicinal chemistry in an age of molecular medicine and precision therapeutics. We operate in an era of precision medicine where all aspects of chemistry are being merged to create drugs of the future. We are therefore fearless in our approach where we use a number of heteroatoms to generate new molecular constellations which we use to probe biological systems to generate new understanding. We are interested in how targets are recognized, nucleic acids catalyze reactions, enzymes are inhibited, peptides associate with targets to image cancer, and how to manipulate life through chemistry.

We’re interested in all chemical approaches – particularly synthetic chemistry – that can be used to probe biology – we embrace numerous tools and techniques with a large focus on synthetic organic chemistry to do cutting-edge, interesting, curiosity-driven science. And, as we ask these questions, we drive a quest for new knowledge in aspects of methodology, target oriented synthesis and translation to medicinal applications. My lab is always seeking highly motivated students who want to work at the interface of chemistry and biology.
